Resource: How to Address Tobacco-Related Disparities

Particular sociodemographic “priority” populations, including members of the LGBTQ community, experience tobacco-related health disparities.

Addressing these health disparities is a responsibility of state and territorial health agencies, community partners, and healthcare providers; to assist these groups in reaching priority populations, the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) has created an infographic with information on community agencies and opportunities for leaders. Healthcare providers should be especially aware of patients who may fall into multiple priority populations, such as LGBT racial minorities or people with both low socioeconomic status and mental illness.
